Cracking day for the Sunday Seniors

By Gary Brigden

Two cup matches and two wins as SCR Sunday and SCR Sunday A both move into the next round of their respective cups.

SCR Sunday hosted holders Larkspur Rovers Sunday in the Surrey Intermediate Cup 3rd Round, and dominated much of the first half, but wastefulness in front of goal by Tyler Chambers, Sonny Ayres and Jordan Meredith meant we only had an Ayres goal to show for our efforts.

The second half was a much tighter affair, but again we had good chances from Chambers and Ayres, who was denied by a top drawer save by the Larkspur keeper, and with only seven minutes remaining the holders levelled. From their it appeared there would only be one winner, and it wasn't going to be us.

Fortunately we saw it through to the end, and the dreaded - although given our record last year, not so dreaded - penalties.

Charlie Anderson converted, Larkspur levelled, Casey McCabe converted, Larkspur skied theirs to put us 2-1 up; Sonny Ayres was saved and Larkspur scored so we were back level.

Jordan Meredith put us 3-2 up, Larkspur's was saved and Dan Wilson scored via post and bar to put us into the Quarter Final.

Tolworth FC 1-1 Royal Admiral

Justin Salmon and the A's turned in a superb come from behind win over Division Four opponents Hersham to put themselves through after extra time.

Facing opponents a division above, we found ourselves two goals down and with a mountain to climb. However this is our cup and we are not giving it up lightly. The lads came roaring back, and by full time we had levelled things up at 2-2.

Extra time saw us take control, and three goals put us into the semi final. Our goals came from Liam Holden 2, Stacy Owens 2 and a screamer from Joe Marshall.

Junior Challenge Cup
