Action gets underway on the 10th July, when Isthmian League South Central side Chipstead will be visiting the Knights Community Stadium. Chipstead have made some very impressive signings over pre-season. Also likely to be included in their squad is forward Joe Jackson, who they signed from South Park, but who also manages one of our Colts sides.
We follow this with the first of our trips to the south coast on the 14th, when we head off to Southern Combination Premier Division side Lancing. We have met Lancing before in pre-season, and were also on the wrong end of a 4-1 defeat their in the FA Vase a few seasons ago. They have a very impressive set up, with their ground being the headquarters of the Sussex FA. They are also a side who play on a 3G pitch.
On the 17th we face another Step 4, when newly promoted Isthmian League South East side Three Bridges host us at their ground on the outskirts of Crawley. Bridges finished runner up in the Southern Combination Premier Division, earning themselves promotion, and having played them last season we know that this will be another tough encounter.
The 21st sees our second home game, and our second match against Southern Combination Premier Division opponents, as we host Arundel at Hannibal Way. This will be our first match against Arundel, and promises to be another tough encounter.
On the 24th we are back in action at the Knights Community Stadium, when we met another side for the first time, as we host Step 6 side Lewisham Borough. Borough currently ply their trade in the Southern Counties East Division One, and are from all accounts gearing up for a promotion push this season. Knowing how we struggled against Step 6 sides last season, Cobham, Worcester Park etc, this will be another good fixture for the lads.
Our final away trip is on the 28th, when we make our regular trip down to Southern Combination Premier Division side Newhaven. We have alternated hosting and visiting Newhaven over the last five seasons, and the games are always fiercely contested between two evenly matched sides. There will also be an U23 following the first team game.
Our final pre-season game is on the 31st July and sees us take on Marvin Williams Sutton Utd Academy side. With them pushing several players into the first team squad last season, and loaning others out to Step 5 sides, this will be a great test before we start the season on the 4th August.
