U16 Yellows win Invitation Cup

3 months ago By Gary Brigden

Yellows bounce back from falling behind early on to seal a memorable cup triumph.

Against league champions Doverhouse Lions the lads knew they need to get off to a decent start, but unfortunately found themselves behind after only two minutes.

However we rallied well and it turned into an entertaining contest, but despite our efforts it looked as if for the second year in a row we were going to end up runners up. With a minute to go though a Cameron Berrie cross found George Hambleton and he headed home to take the game into extra time.

The extra period yielded no further goals, and for the second year in a row we were into penalties. This time though the Gods were on our side.

Jorden Mbola, George Fry, Owen Bolton, Cameron Berrie all scored, Brandon Farley then saved the Doverhouse fourth, George Hambleton saw his saved, but Doverhouse fired their last kick over the bar, and that, as they say, was that.
