Youthful looking reserves go down at Merrow

By Gary Brigden

The Reserves ended their league campaign with a 5-0 defeat away at mid-table Merrow on Saturday.

However it was a much changed side from the team that had won the league cup the previous Monday.

Joint managers, Mark Hargreaves and Liam Joyce made the decision to hand a debut to 19 year old goalkeeper Alex Bevan, whilst their were debuts off the bench for 17 year old Aaron Hunt and 16 year old Max Hands. Another 16 year old Tyler Chambers made his first start after his debut a couple of weeks ago, and in a touching move, co-manager Mark Hargreaves was given the last 15 minutes, and able to play alongside his son in a competitive fixture for the first team.

With all the changes, and against more experienced opponents it was no real surprise that the lads were unable to pick up any points. But with so many youngsters on show it can only bode well for the future.

Next Monday see's the lads in action for the final time when they take on Ash Utd in the Spring League final.
