SCR Sunday slip to defeat

By Gary Brigden

Despite a battling effort SCR Sunday slipped to a 3-2 defeat away at league leaders Harrow Sports on Sunday.

With opponents having former SCR Sunday player Jamie Rixon, and current SCR first team player (and also ex-SCR Sunday player) Asa Rixon in their ranks, alongside other ex-first team players Jake Soffe and Darren O'Malley (back in the 2012/13 season) it was always likely to be a tough encounter, and so it proved.

The game swung back and forth with us leading twice before being pegged back and eventually overhauled. A couple of dismissals, Harrow's keeper and Nathan Oliver for us, saw both sides reduced to ten men but Harrow picked up all three points and need just a handful of points to clinch the title.

AFC Eagles leapfrogged us into second spot, courtesy of a 4-0 win over struggling Malden Vale. They are now two points ahead of us, although we have three games in hand. The two sides meet this weekend in a double header, which should effectively decide who finishes second.

Division Two
