Thanks again to Scott Wallage for his match report
The First team were back in action on a cold Friday night against Horley Town in the second round of the FA Vase, and once again we were drawn against Combined Counties opponents.
The club welcomed back Asa Rixon-Nicholls who was starting his first game of the season.
Horley town started the game of very quick and sharp, and they opened up the scoring after only three minutes when Ayden Richards was found in an open space to hit the ball first time past an unset Ollie Ellaway.
Horley were starting to control the game causing a lot of issues going close to doubling their lead only to be denied by good defending.
We managed to get our self-back into the game on the twenty third minute when Marlon Pinder opened up his goal scoring account for the club after managing to hold of a Horley defender to create himself some space to hit his shot that deflects of the post and in to put the game back level.
The game started to slow down with both teams trying to gain control of the game and find a way to create some space to create any opportunities to find the back of the net.
We finally took the lead in the fortieth minute when Neset Bellikli put in a great delivery from a corner that was met by the diving header of Guy Baskerville to put us 2-1 up before the close of the first half.
The last five minutes of the half went by with neither team trying to push too push forward to hard in case of causing any mistakes.
We started the second half off fast by putting the Horley back line up pressure straight away.
In the fifty second minute we extended our lead to 3-1 when Ollie Twum went on a great solo run getting past a couple of Horley players to smash home pass the keeper at the near post.
Only three minutes later in the fifty fifth minute we found our-self 4-1 up with Bellikli getting his second assist of the game again from the corner this time it was Jeff Addo-Dankwa with a diving header.
In the sixtieth minute we put our-self 5-1 up after Twum was able to create himself some space down the left wing and delivered the ball into the middle of the box where an in running Matt Tanton hit it first time with the slight deflection of a Horley player to lob the keeper.
In the sixty second minute we made a double substitution with Phil Page and Josh Uzun replacing Marlon Pinder and Asa Rixon-Nicholls.
In the sixty fourth minute after only being on the field for two minutes Page had found the back of the net after being played a perfect pass out to him on the right side of the box in open space to get his shot away first time that ended up hitting of the out stretched foot of a Horley player to help if pass the keeper putting us 6-1 up.
In the seventy first minute we made our third and final change of the game with Jordan Gallagher replacing Ollie Twum.
The game started to slow down with Horley trying to hold onto the ball to stop us from scoring any more goals.
The game came to a close with us winning the game 6-1 putting our name into the hat for the third-round draw.
