Match preview: H v Cobham

By Gary Brigden

The first team host Cobham for the second time this season as the two sides meet in the Premier Division this afternoon.

Having already met at the Reg Madgwick in the League, where we recorded a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Ollie Twum and Daryl Cooper-Smith, and the FA Vase at the Knights Community Stadium, where strikes from Kyle Henry and a Matt Farrell penalty took us through 2-1, the lads know we will be in for a tough game.

Despite the two wins, both games have seen Cobham dominate for sustained periods, and only some excellent defending took us to the wins.

Darren and Donny have a strong squad available today, although they do have a couple of players unavailable. They do have some newcomers into the squad in the shape of Ryan Green (from Sutton Utd Academy) and Charlie Alexiou (from Carshalton Athletic). There is also a recall to the squad for influential midfielder Callum Maclean.

It is fitting that today, the first weekend after the anniversary of the passing of Ken Reed, that the two Combined Counties sides that meant the most to him should be meeting.

Where next?

Pinder strike gives first the points. A Marlon Pinder goal just before the break was enough to give the firsts all three points, but that doesn't tell the full story.
