18’S ARE CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS

In a thrilling final, hosted at Bedfont Sports, the lads came from behind to secure a hard fought 3-2 win over an excellent Worthing side on Thursday night.

Worthing were off to a flying start and took the lead inside four minute, but we did not lie down and were level almost immediately, when Abdul Sbaiti fired home for 1-1.

We continued to press, and were rewarded midway through the half, when a shot cannoned off the bar, and Tom Jones was on hand to slot home the rebound for 2-1, and we were in dreamland shortly before the break when Cameron Dobell latched onto a goalkeeping error and made it 3-1.

Credit to Worthing as they threw the kitchen sink at us in the second half, but brave defending, some excellent goalkeeping from Toby McKimm and a valiant rearguard effort saw us hold on until four minutes from time when Worthing reduced the arrears with a screamer from distance.

Truth be told, if Worthing had levelled we might have struggled in extra time as we were out on our feet, but these lads are a fabulous determined bunch and held on to secure the win.
