The U18’s suffered their first league defeat of the season on Thursday night, when going down 4-1 away at a powerful Cray Valley PM side.

With Cray being one of the title contenders last season, and being unbeaten so far this term, the lads knew they were in for a tough evening, and it was vital to get off to a positive start.

Unfortunately two goals in the opening ten minutes by Jonathan Lawson put us on the back foot, and a third on the half hour by Oliver Knight took the game away from us.

Harry Hogben notched a wonderful diving header just before the break to give us some hope, but despite our best efforts we were unable to get on the scoresheet again, and a late Riley Woods goal sealed the win for Cray Valley PM.

Despite the result, this was a game full of high quality football by two excellent sides, and a wonderful advert for Isthmian youth football.

Elsewhere last week in the division, there were wins for K Sports, Tonbridge Angels and Chatham Town.

Cray Valley PM 4-1 Sutton Common Rovers
Ashford Utd 0-3 K Sports
Chatham Town 4-2 Corinthians
Tonbridge Angels 7-0 Glebe

Next up for the lads is Wednesday’s home fixture with Corinthian, and they will be looking to get back to winning ways.
