23’S DRAW AT SPELTHORNE SPORTS

The 23’s picked up a point in a 3-3 draw away at Spelthorne Sports last night, but was it a case of a point won or two points dropped.

Having turned in a poor performance in the first half the lads deservedly found themselves 1-0 down. However after a stern talking to by Mark Hargreaves at the interval it was a side that came out with a renewed purpose.

Despite an improved performance, it was not until the 70th minute that we made the breakthrough, when substitute Aboulaye Coulibaly levelled things up, and it got even better four minutes later when Luke Guest fired us ahead.

Our goal-scoring blitz was completed on 82 minutes when Coulibaly notched his second to make it 3-1 and surely seal all three points.

However, one thing we know from games at all levels against Spelthorne in the past, is that they always have that desire and heart, and the game is not over until the final whistle blows. It was to prove the same last night, almost immediately after we had given ourselves a two goal cushion, they pulled one back to make it 3-2, and in stoppage time they levelled things up to pick up a share of the points.
