Rovers picked up their first home point of the season, when ekeing out a 1-1 draw in a dour game against Southall.
It was a first half of lots of effort, few chances and two soft penalties. Southall took the lead on nine minutes when Kevin Songolo was harshly adjudged to have handled in the area, the fact it was chest and outside the area are by the by. Louis Stead sent Dan Purdue the wrong way for 1-0.
Rovers responded positively and efforts from Javin Dougan and Tony Halsey failed to trouble the keeper. Rovers levelled ten minutes from the break. Courtney Swaby and Jephte Tanga linked well on the right and from the cross Songolo went down in the area. Shawn Lyle converted the spot kick to send the sides into the break at 1-1.
In a poor second half neither side really threatened, although Rovers were grateful for a superb Purdue save from a Lyle header.
