Rovers ended a five game losing streak in the league on Saturday when an Antonio Simeone free kick helped secure a point away at Ashford Town (Middx).

Sam made multiple changes, with first starts for Matt Feeney-Hill and Lindell Stewart, a debut for Rylan John, and recalls for the fit again Conan Torpey and available again Simeone.

There was little to trouble either keeper in the early stages, with the only talking points a couple of yellows cards for each side. Rovers suffered an early blow, when Max Oldham took a severe head knock, and left the field with concussion, to be replaced by Charlie Martin.

Rovers struck the only goal of the half, just after the half hour when a fierce low free kick by Simeone took a slight nick off the wall on its way to beating Toby Mawer in the Ashford goal.

The hosts came out with much more purpose in the second half, but again neither keeper were seriously troubled. With time running out though and Ashford pushing for an equaliser a free kick was swung into the area, half cleared, and struck sweetly on the volley by ex-SCR man Aaron Goode, albeit via another tiny deflection – just enough at the pace the ball was struck to beat Dillon.

Full time came with both sides settling for a point
