Both our development sides were in action this week, with mixed results.

On Monday the U18’s made the trip to Corinthian, looking to get their league campaign back on track after their defeat last time out against Tonbridge Angels.

As it turned out the lads turned in an excellent performance, and eased to a 3-0 win which kept them top of the table. The speedy Xavi Obi gave us the lead midway through the first half, and we took that one goal lead into the interval.

Abdul Sbaiti increased our lead fifteen minutes into the second half, and scoring was completed ten minutes from time when Matt Hill hit a screamer from 30 yards to give us all three points.

Cray Valley slipped up on Thursday with a 1-1 draw against Glebe, handing the initiative in the title chase back to our lads.

On Wednesday a much changed U23’s with four or five out through injury, headed off to Molesey for their second match in the John Bennett Development Division Cup.

An exciting encounter followed, with twists and turns throughout. Molesey opened the scoring after only four minutes, before we levelled through Abz Coulibaly ten minutes before the break, sending the sides in level at 1-1.

We hit the front early in the second half, when a good move ended with a Molesey player firing beyond his own keeper. However our hopes of a win were dashed in the last minute when a close range header gave Molesey a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

One point of note was the introduction, for the first time, of U18’s starlet Matt Hill, who came on as a second half substitute.

The 18’s are back in action next week, on Monday, when they make the long trip to Sheppey Utd, to take on an inform third placed side, whilst the 23’s are back in action on the 20th, hosting Spelthorne Sports in our third game of the Development cup.
