Goals from Courtney Swaby, Nabeel Ghannam and Aaron Jenkins helped the firsts ease passed Ashford Town (Middx) in the Surrey Senior Cup this evening.
In truth it was a first half of few chances, but both keepers had to be at their best to deny their opponents from striking. Ashford debutant Harry Cant performed wonders to prevent Charlie Martins point blank effort from giving Rovers the lead, and James Dillon somehow denied Jerry Frimpong from close range, with Bert Lloyd completing the clearance.
Rovers struck on the stroke of half time. A free kick on the right was swung in by Swaby, eluding everybody and nestling in the far corner of the net.
It was 2-0 on 53 minutes, a long Ben Holden throw was flicked on by Martin beyond Ahkeem Belford and Ghannam latched onto the loose ball and rolled under Cant to give Rovers breathing space.
Scoring was completed on 88 minutes and was a goal crafted by the U18’s, with 17 year old Noah Africa finding fellow 17 year old Matt Feeney-Hill, MFH’s throw ball was staggering in its quality, and the finish by Jenkins was not to shabby either.
