Despite taking the lead through Aaron Jenkins 19th minute header the first team eventually fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat at home to Hanworth Villa.

After Rovers took the lead, they were hampered by an injury to goalkeeper James Dillon, negating the option for back-passes and clearances by the keeper. Villa saw a chance to get back into the game, but despite a spell of pressure it took until the 42nd minute for the scores to be level.

A rare mistake by Bert Lloyd allowed the prolific Sam Merson through on goal and he sent the sides in level at the break.

Early in the second half and the one legged Dillon pulled off a superb save to keep the scores level, before Kyen Nicholas headed Villa ahead on the hour.

The rest of the game saw a couple of half chances spurned by the hosts, whilst for Rovers Antonio Simeone saw his late effort save by debutant Villa keeper Tyla Dickinson and that was that.
