FIRSTS THROUGH TO SOUTHERN COMBINATION CUP SEMI FINAL

An exciting Quarter Final with Camberley Town saw the lads progress to the semi final thanks to another shoot out victory.

Changes were made from Saturday and their was a disjointed feel to the first half, and we were indebted to man of the match James Dillon for a string of fine saves. The visitors took the lead on 27 minutes when Cavan Atkinson thumped home a header from a corner.

We levelled early in the second half when Tyler Cox skipped inside Luke Benton and drilled an effort low to keeper Owen Crawfords right.

The visitors retook the lead just after the hour when a low shot was only half blocked by Dillon, and Jack Selby forced the ball home. Again though we responded positively and Cox fired home his second, on 67 minutes, with the aid of a deflection off Steve Lee.

Camberley had a chance to snatch the win in the 87th minute, but Gianluca Botti saw his well struck penalty brilliantly saved by Dillon.

Straight onto a shoot out and Torpey fired us ahead, with Botti levelling; Courtney Swaby was then denied by Crawford and Dillon saved from Calvin Camara; Siao Blackwood scored for us, with Mason Taylor responding for Camberley, and Nabeel Ghannam put us 3-2 ahead, with Brad Passfield skying his effort for Camberley. It was then left to Cox to seal the win.

Full report to follow.
