Rovers dismal run continued on Saturday when they turned in a pitiful performance on their way to a 5-1 home drubbing by Hartley Wintney.

The visitors led on 20 minutes when a deflected Mason Obeng shot somehow found it’s way into the net, but Rovers responded positively and levelled on 26 minutes when Hartley failed to deal with a corner and Aaron Jenkins poked home from close range.

Jenkins was denied by Callum Coulter from a similar position shortly after and the game was to swing dramatically in Hartley’s favour on 35 minutes. A scramble in the area saw a fierce drive blocked by Ben Holden, unfortunately for Rovers the referee deemed it a handball and a penalty and dismissal was the outcome. Taylor Morgan converted and Hartley went in ahead at the break.

Jenkins went close early in the second half before Morgan notched his second, albeit there was more than a hint of offside.

Two late George strikes, Wallace on 85 minutes and Winser on 89 minutes, merely sealed Rovers fate.

Plenty for Morgs and Reece to ponder as we move forward.
