Huge congratulations to Mark Hargreaves, Paul Hunt, Grant Hearne and the SCR Sunday Yellows boys who picked up the Leatherhead and District Lower Junior Challenge Cup on Sunday, thanks to a 4-2 win over fellow Division 8 side AFC Rio.
With the honours shared in the league, with both sides picking up a win each, it was always likely to be a close encounter.
A first half double from Louis Hamilton had given Rio a 2-1 lead going into the half time interval, our goal coming from an early Tyler Hargreaves strike.
It looked as though the cup was heading to Rio, but in the dying seconds of the second half a Luke Guest goal levelled things up and took us into extra time.
Our younger legs came to the fore in extra time and a double from Hargreaves giving him a precious cup final hat-trick saw the lads run out 4-2 winners.
Well done gents, and well done to AFC Rio on a cracking final.
The lads are on for an excellent double as they sit top of Division 8, three points clear of AFC Rio and with a game in hand – Rio being the only side who can stop them.
