Seventh heaven for the 23s

Sutton Common Rovers U23 delivered a commanding 7-1 victory over Chessington and Hook U23 in what was a standout performance. Schadrac netted four goals, Billy provided four assists, Junior added two goals, and Abdulai contributed with a goal and assist. Despite falling behind early, the team showed resilience, going into halftime with a 2-1 lead after a steady first-half performance.

The second half was where the team truly shone, playing some of their best football of the season. The ball movement was fluid, with crisp passing and intelligent positioning creating numerous chances. Schadrac and Junior were clinical in front of goal, while Billy’s vision and creativity unlocked the opposition’s defense time and again. It was a masterclass in finishing, as the team put five more goals past a helpless Chessington defense.

What stood out most was the cohesion and sharpness in possession, a level of play that was above anything seen in the season including pre-season. The players moved with purpose, finding pockets of space and linking up brilliantly to break down the opposition. Each goal was a testament to the quality of the build-up play, with the team working in unison to create openings.

This was a performance that showcased the potential of the squad. While the first half had its challenges, the second half was a statement of intent and sets a high bar for the rest of the season. A dominant display that will inspire confidence moving forward.
