SLOPPY FIRSTS SLUMP IN FA TROPHY

After three straight wins, and in decent form the first team decided to turn in their worst performance of the month in Saturday’s FA Trophy tie at Badshot Lea.

The hosts got off to the perfect start when hat-trick hero Steven Sylla opened the scoring inside the opening five minutes, and the hosts dominated the opening exchanges. We grew back into the game and levelled on 17 minutes when Isy Nzelo rose highest to head home a Courtney Swaby corner.

We gifted Badshot the lead again just shy of the half hour, when a horrible blind backpass by the usually reliable Matt Tanton played in Sylla, he was hauled down by James Dillon and picked himself up to stroke home the spot kick.

Dillon pulled off a stunner to keep it at 2-1, and the hosts led at the interval.

Lamin Ceesay made it 3-1 early in the second half, before a raft of changes freshened things up for us, and we pulled one back on 65 minutes with Conan Torpey heading home a Max Oldham cross.

Anuur Ceesay restored the hosts two goal advantage with a screamer on 75 minutes, but once again we fought back. A long Tanton thrown being fired home by Max Oldham. Despite our best efforts we were unable to force an equaliser and deep into stoppage time Sylla fired home for 5-3.

There was still time for the day to get worse, with Swaby picking up a second yellow and seeing red in stoppage time.
