THIRD SUCCESSIVE DRAW FOR THE FIRSTS

Rovers picked up a hard fought point in a Boxing Day goalless draw with title chasing Raynes Park Vale.

James Shaw replaced the unavailable Oshane Brown in the only change from the side that had drawn with Badshot Lea at the weekend.

High flying Vale had the better of things in the opening exchanges and a James Dickson effort struck the post on 20 minutes and Charlie Penny headed over as the hosts looked to strike first. Rovers had a couple of half chances, but nothing to severely test Billy Bishop in the Vale goal.

Vale were reduced to ten shortly before the break as Jordan Gallagher saw red and half time came scoreless.

Neither side looked like being able to crack the opponents backline in the early part of the second half, but as the game wore on it was Vale who got on top. Our defence though was in top form and we secured another vital point.
