Two goals in a three minute second half spell secured all three points for Walton & Hersham against relegation haunted Sutton Common Rovers.

Walton had the better of a fairly tense first half, John Hicks, Joe Gilbert and Taurean Roberts all going close in the opening 30 minutes.

Just after the half hour and Eddie Simon pinched the ball off Rovers keeper James Dillon but his effort was blocked and Rovers first meaningful effort saw a Courtney Swaby free kick saved Liam Allen.

Walton opened the scoring on 61 minutes when a long ball over the top found Harry Mills and he fired home as Dillon hesitated.

Two minutes later and it was game over, another ball over the Rovers defence found Gilbert and he fired home.

Roberts and ex-Rovers man Daryl Siaw went close late on but there was no further scoring and Walton moved second in the table, whilst for Rovers it was a twelfth straight defeat.
